MildCares, a startup incubated by IIT Kanpur’s Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), distributed their menstrual cups called GynoCups in in Aminabad Urf Baragoan a village in Uttar Pradesh. Rachna Vyas, Co-Founder of MildCares, in the presence of Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, CEO, SIIC, transitioned the village’s women to menstrual cups, thus paving the way for its official declaration as Uttar Pradesh’s first “sanitary pad-free village.” The initiative was carried out on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day.
Rachna Vyas, Co-Founder of MildCares and Head of the Switch2Cup Initiative, said: “The success of Aminabad Urf Baragoan illustrates the impact of extensive education and community participation. MildCares is thrilled to witness these positive changes and hopes this will inspire other regions to adopt sustainable menstrual health practices.”
About MildCares and GynoCup
MildCares basically aims at solving menstrual, intimate, and wellness hygiene issues through various products such as menstrual cups, menstrual wipes, hygiene wash and other similar products hoping to make a significant impact on the lives of women. Their primary product, the GynoCup menstrual cup, introduced in 2020, offers a sustainable, cost-effective, and convenient alternative to conventional sanitary pads, with the goal of enhancing menstrual hygiene.
“The story of GynoCups was being written from the day we believed that no woman at any corner of this universe should feel the regret of her womanhood because of the pain she bears every month. Dedicatedly made and designed for helping during the time of menstruations, GynoCups is surely your best friend forever,” says the official website.
Menstrual cups, according to MildCares, provide several advantages over sanitary pads. By reducing dependence on disposable pads, menstrual cups can significantly decrease the risk of infections and promote better menstrual health.
Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, CEO, SIIC, IIT Kanpur, lauding the successful efforts of MildCares. Said: ”The switch to reusable menstrual cups cuts waste, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. This initiative showcases IIT Kanpur’s commitment to social change by supporting innovative startups like MildCares, which empower communities with sustainable solutions.” MildCares’ pioneering initiative in Aminabad Urf Baragoan serves as a beacon of hope, paving the way for a future where menstrual hygiene, environmental consciousness, and women’s health go hand-in-hand.
