DRDO Internship 2026 has been announced for students at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a specialised laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The institute, which is dedicated to advancing the readiness, preparedness, and strategic resilience of the armed forces against radiological threats, focuses on the development of radiation countermeasures with its mission of “Atom for Peace” and “Peace from Atom”.

The opportunity is open to students pursuing final year graduation in engineering and post graduation in engineering or science for a period of 6 months. A monthly stipend of Rs 5000 will be paid. Apart from the stipend, a completion certificate will also be issued to the interns upon successful completion of the six-month period from the date of joining the internship program.
Who Can Apply for DRDO Internship 2026?
There are currently 8 positions available out of which 3 are for graduates and 5 are for postgraduates. Qualifications required for the DRDO Internship is as follows:
- Pursuing final year BE or BTech in 7th or 8th semester in computer science, computational neuroscience, machine learning, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science engineering or nanotechnology.
- Pursuing final year MSc or MTech in 3rd or 4th semester in computer science, computational neuroscience, machine learning, life science, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, microbiology, chemistry, chemical sciences, chemical engineering, computational chemistry, material science, nanotechnology or pharmaceutics.
Only Indian nationals can apply and students who have studied or are studying outside India are not eligible to apply.
Selection Criteria for DRDO Internship
Students will be selected on the following criteria:
- Student should have a good academic record with 75% or above marks or at least 7.5 CGPA (out of 10).
- Permission letter from the Director of the institution is required for deserving students.
- Selection will be based on academic merit; if needed, there may be an interview via phone or video call.
- Only shortlisted students will be informed about joining through email.

The subject line should clearly mention: “Application for Paid Internship – Post Code: [XXX] – [Discipline Name]”.
