IIT Madras is currently accepting applications from students for a summer internship, which will be conducted for a period of two months. A notification issued by IIT Madras states that the internship has been designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young engineering, management, sciences and humanities students. The program will most likely be held from 18 May to 17 July 2026. Selected interns will receive a stipend of Rs 15,000 per month.

Who Can Apply for IIT Madras Internship?
The notification mentions that students with the following qualifications would be eligible to apply for the internship opportunity:
- Third year undergraduate students of BE, BTech or BSc in engineering as well as third year BSc students with chemistry, physics and mathematics.
- Third or fourth year of Integrated or Dual Degree in Masters program including ME, MTech or MSc, first year of MSc, MA, or MBA with outstanding academic background.
How to Apply for IIT Madras Internship?
Interested and eligible students will have to submit their online application on theofficial website before 2 March 2026. Students will need to possess the following documents before applying:
- Recent passport size photo of less than 2MB size in JPG, PNG or file format.
- Category certificate.
- Aadhaar card.
- A bonafide letter from the institute, which should certify that the applicant is a bonafide student issued by the Head of Institution.
- All academic certificates and marks cards.
- A short Statement of Purpose of less than a page including areas of scientific interest, potential major project ideas, and any other relevant information for evaluating the candidature.

A sun of Rs 100 will have to be paid while submitting applications, and this opportunity is available only to non-IIT students. The university has clearly stated that all incomplete applications would be rejected, therefore students are advised to go through the official notification in detail before submitting applications online.
