Galgotias University AI Summit Robotic Dog Issue Gets Worse After University Clarifies

Galgotias University AI Summit issue, which has become the topic of conversation with thousands of reels and posts on social media, seems to have become worse after the university stated its clarification on the matter. The issue started after Neha Singh, a professor of communications at the university said in an interview with DD News that the robotic dog exhibited by it at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi was developed by the “centre of excellences” (sic) at the institution. She also added that the dog was called “Orion”.

However, upon examining the facts it was found that the robotic dog was actually Unitree Go2, developed by China’s Unitree Robotics. After the Galgotias University AI Summit issue went viral, Singh added that it was all due to miscommunication, and that she never claimed that Galgotias University had built the dog.

“The controversy happened because things may not have been expressed clearly. I take accountability that perhaps I did not communicate properly, as it was done with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and very quickly, in a jiffy, so I may not have come across as very eloquent, which is a rare case,” she said to PTI. The University was also asked to stop exhibiting at the Expo, according to reports.

Shortly afterwards, Galgotias University issued a release blaming Singh for her ignorance and enthusiasm, which has lead to further criticism. The press release reads: “We at Galgotias University, wish to apologise profusely for the confusion created at the recent Al Summit. One of our representatives, manning the pavilion, was ill-informed. She was not aware of the technical origins of the product and in her enthusiasm of being on camera, gave factually incorrect information even though she was not authorised to speak to the press. We request your kind understanding as there was no institutional intent to misrepresent this innovation. Galgotias University remains firmly committed to academic integrity, transparency, and responsible representation of our work.”

“Neha Singh is the Head of Department, Communications at the School of Business, Galgotias University. If she was not authorized to speak to the media than what was her role at the AI summit?,” ask several post on X after the statement was posted. “Why was she not drawn away from the media once a mistake had happened.Galgotia management should have asked some one senior to handle and mitigate the situation. She kept on giving interviews after interviews and defending herself,” adds Atul Sharma on the Galgotias University AI Summit issue

“This is a misguiding statement. If this is the case, the same person should not have allowed to give second interview about the same topic. It is an another eyewash by setting up an example of what a leader should not do. As this statement itself shows that they are disowning the team member and her statements in a crisis situation,” says Hitesh Modi. While the issue rages on, Galgotias University has confirmed that they have vacated that premises of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Reports also suggest that Neha Singh has updated her status to “Open to Work” after the issue.
