As artificial intelligence adoption expands across industries, the Indian job market is witnessing a noticeable rise in demand for AI-related roles. The latest data on AI job postings by occupation as of 31 January 2026 from Indeed’s Hiring Tracker (IHT) shows increasing hiring activity across multiple functions, signaling that organizations are moving from experimentation to large-scale deployment of AI technologies.
Callam Pickering, Senior Economist, APAC at Indeed, said, “Job posting activity in India remains well above pre-pandemic levels and continues to broaden across occupations. The rise in AI-related postings shows how quickly these capabilities are being embedded across industries. Adoption is becoming more widespread, with 55% of occupational categories now referencing AI, up from 36% a year ago, reflecting steady hiring alongside structural change.”
Hiring Lab data points to structural shifts in the type of skills employers are seeking, particularly around artificial intelligence. In January, 14% of Indian job postings referenced AI, up from 12.8% three months earlier, with demand strongest in data and analytics (40%) and software development (29%), and increasingly visible in industrial engineering (22%), scientific research (20%), insurance (20%), as well as operations, logistics, and management roles where 12.8% of postings mentioned AI in January, up from 9.7% a year earlier.
