Dhanasingh Vinodh Appointed Director, SMB – Microsoft Azure

Dhanasingh Vinodh has been appointed Director, SMB, Microsoft Azure, marking a new phase in his career spanning leadership roles across global technology companies. He joins Microsoft after close to nine years at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he played a key role in expanding cloud adoption among small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India and the SAARC region.

Commenting on the move, Vinodh said, “I am thrilled to share that I’m starting a new position as Director of SMB – Microsoft Azure. The SMB sector is the backbone of the global economy, and I’ve always been passionate about how technology can level the playing field for growing businesses.” He added that joining Microsoft “feels like the perfect next step to help organizations scale, innovate, and thrive using the power of the cloud,” and noted that he looks forward to working with teams globally to empower SMBs. Vinodh also acknowledged the support he received through his professional journey, thanking those who have been part of it.

At AWS, Vinodh most recently served as Head of SMB, India, leading teams responsible for managing high-potential SMB accounts nationwide. Prior to that, he headed the AWS Geo Expansion initiative in India, where he was involved in establishing the company’s footprint in tier 2 and tier 3 cities through market-entry strategies, team building, and partner engagement. He earlier held the role of SMB Regional Sales Manager for South East India and SAARC and received the “Best People Leader” award for FY22.

Before AWS, Vinodh worked with VMware as a Business Manager, focusing on new territory development and partner-led growth, and spent over six years at IBM in business management roles across systems, services and software portfolios in South India.

In his new role at Microsoft, Vinodh will be responsible for driving Azure’s engagement with the SMB segment, an area that continues to be central to cloud growth strategies as smaller enterprises increasingly adopt digital and cloud-led operating models.
