ChatGPT Go, OpenAI’s premium offering that cost Rs 399 a month, has been made free for all Indian users starting 4 November. To get ChatGPT Go free of cost, users will have to upgrade their existing accounts from the basic plan. “Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI,” Nick Turley, VP and head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, said in a statement.

ChatGPT Go is a new tier with extended access to GPT-5 and enhanced image generation. Compared to current ChatGPT, it integrates a more advanced model (like GPT-4o or better) for precise text rendering, better prompt following, iterative refinements via chat, and generates two variations per prompt. It also allows more daily images than the standard version.
“This promotion is a continuation of OpenAI’s “India-first” commitment and supports the IndiaAI Mission, reinforcing the growing momentum around AI in India as the country prepares to host the AI Impact Summit next year,” added the company in a statement.

What Users Can do with ChatGPT Go Free Version
ChatGPT Go was introduced as a low-cost subscription plan that provides expanded access to ChatGPT’s most popular features at an affordable price. With this version, users will have access to the following features:
- Expanded Access to GPT-5.
- Expanded messaging and uploads.
- Expanded and faster image creation.
- Longer memory and context.
- Limited deep research.
- Projects, tasks, custom GPTs.
How to Sign up for ChatGPT Go?
Users who wish to upgrade to ChatGPT Go free version will have to do so through their accounts starting from 4 November up to the limited period for which the offer will be available. To upgrade, users will have to do the following:
- Log into their ChatGPT accounts.
- Click on the profile icon, and then select Upgrade Plan.
- After that, Try Go icon needs to be selected to upgrade the account.
