As enterprises worldwide embrace data-driven transformation, Celonis, a notable player in process mining and process intelligence, is sharpening its focus on India, a market it views as both a growth engine and an innovation powerhouse. In an exclusive conversation with Tech Achieve Media, Kaushik Mitra, Vice President and Go-To-Market Leader, India, Celonis, reflects on how India has evolved from being a delivery hub to becoming a strategic cornerstone in Celonis’ global vision. With its rich digital talent, forward-leaning enterprises, and rapidly expanding network of Global Capability Centers (GCCs), India is shaping the future of process excellence and AI-led business transformation. Mitra sheds light on how Celonis is driving this evolution, powering organizations to move beyond efficiency and cost optimization to holistic, outcome-driven transformation at scale.
TAM: Celonis is a global leader in Process Mining. How critical is the Indian market in Celonis’ global growth strategy?
Kaushik Mitra: India is the epicentre of process excellence and AI which makes it one of the fastest growing markets in the world. India is critical for two major reasons. Firstly, it has a deep digital talent pool that includes data scientists, engineers, process specialists, and analysts. Secondly, both Indian enterprises and the GCCs here are among the earliest adopters of technologies, such as Celonis, that deliver measurable outcomes. This combination of talent and demand plus the sheer scale of digital transformation makes India a defining pillar of our strategy.
TAM: What types of organisations or industry segments are showing the fastest adoption of Celonis’ offerings?
Kaushik Mitra: There is strong momentum across Automotive, Manufacturing, Consumer goods, BFSI, Retail, and Pharma. Large Indian conglomerates and fast-growing, digital-first enterprises are scaling deployments across finance, supply chain, procurement, and customer service. At the same time, GCCs based here are embedding Celonis into their core processes and rolling out transformation programs globally. We work with more than 150 GCCs in India, including Dell, Wells Fargo, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, Merck, and ABB. India is clearly a growth market and a global delivery base and innovation hub for business transformation.
TAM: Are you seeing a shift in how Indian companies are using Process Intelligence, from efficiency to larger transformation initiatives?
Kaushik Mitra: We are seeing growing interest from Indian enterprises who are actively evaluating how process intelligence can support their larger transformation journeys. The discussions have moved beyond pilots focused only on efficiency and cost savings, to exploring enterprise wide use cases tied to outcomes like faster order fulfilment, stronger compliance, and more adaptive supply chains. CXOs are beginning to view AI powered by Process Intelligence as a potential enabler of digital transformation at scale, rather than just a point solution.
TAM: What differentiates Celonis from other automation or analytics platforms in the eyes of Indian CXOs?
Kaushik Mitra: Celonis creates a real-time digital twin of business operations that is system-agnostic and unbiased. This living model gives companies a common language, Process Intelligence, to understand how their business truly runs and to connect process data with business context in a way that automation and AI can act on with precision. Celonis exposes hidden inefficiencies, recommends concrete actions, and enables real-time process execution by automatically orchestrating corrective measures, escalating issues, and driving improvements. Celonis AI continuously monitors, diagnoses inefficiencies (like order blocks, maverick spend, payment delays), and pushes targeted interventions without delay.
TAM: As a leader overseeing this momentum, what keeps you excited about the work Celonis is doing in India?
Kaushik Mitra: What excites me is the scale and variety of work India is driving for Celonis globally. Through our CoE, we lead some of the most complex transformation programs for customers, proving that India is not only a delivery centre but a value creator. The Garage adds another dimension; it brings the agility of a startup to an enterprise platform, experimenting with AI and unstructured data in partnership with customers and partners, and then scaling these ideas worldwide. At the same time, our ecosystem continues to expand, from Advisory firms and SIs to more than 130,000 learners through our Academic Alliance, making India a vibrant hub of Process Intelligence talent. And with Value Engineering and Services anchoring all of this, we are able to ensure that every innovation and alliance ultimately translates into measurable outcomes for customers. The combination of these strengths is what keeps the work here so energising.
TAM: Looking ahead, what is your vision for Celonis in India over the next 2–3 years – in terms of market positioning and impact?
Kaushik Mitra: Our vision is to make India central to Celonis’ growth and global leadership. On the market side, our GTM focus will be on deepening relationships with enterprises in core industries, ensuring that process intelligence delivers tangible value across sectors. On the innovation side, the Garage will continue to push the frontier, rapidly testing new ideas and scaling them into our global roadmap. This will be reinforced by an even stronger ecosystem, system integrators, universities, and GCCs, that amplifies our reach and embeds Celonis into critical business processes worldwide. Finally, by scaling Value Engineering and Services through our CoE, we aim to make India the backbone of execution for Celonis globally. Together, these pillars will ensure that India is seen not only as a fast-growing market but also as a driver of innovation and measurable outcomes for enterprises worldwide in an AI world.
