Apple has unveiled its most affordable laptop yet, which is the MacBook Neo. Available in four colours namely, Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo, the laptop is aimed at professionals and students who are looking for a lesser price tag on a premium Apple product. The MacBook Neo price in India has also been revealed in a bid to attract pre-orders. The MacBook Neo, which can be obtained in two storage options of 256GB and 512GB, is priced at Rs 69,900 and Rs 79,900, respectively.
Is MacBook Neo Price in India Justified?
While the pricing is attractive, the features announced also appear to be well-suited for this segment. Powered by the Apple A18 Pro chip, the device brings a strong combination of performance and efficiency. The chip features a 6-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, designed to handle intensive workloads while maintaining power efficiency. It also integrates a 5-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enabling more realistic graphics and improved visual performance for gaming and content creation.

The chip further incorporates a 16-core Neural Engine to accelerate on-device AI and machine-learning tasks, supported by 60GB/s memory bandwidth for faster data processing and smoother multitasking. Apple’s advanced Media Engine supports hardware-accelerated H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW, along with dedicated video encode and decode engines and AV1 decode, enabling efficient high-quality video playback, recording, and professional media workflows.

The device is equipped with 8GB of unified memory and features a Liquid Retina display that supports up to one billion colours, offering vibrant visuals and enhanced viewing experiences for both work and entertainment. In terms of battery life, it is rated for up to 16 hours of video streaming and up to 11 hours of wireless web browsing, powered by a 36.5-watt-hour lithium-ion battery. The package includes a 20W USB-C power adapter and a 1.5-metre USB-C charge cable for charging. For video calls and content capture, the device features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, supported by an advanced image signal processor with computational video to enhance image clarity and low-light performance.

However, consumers need to note that while all features are common for the 256GB and 512GB versions, the latter comes with a magic keyboard and touch ID, while the 256GB one only comes with a magic keyboard.
