Annapurna Vishwanathan, a seasoned technology leader, has been appointed Vice President and Head of Information Management (IM) & Digital for India and South Asia at Airbus. The announcement follows her tenure as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Cummins India, where she drove transformative IT strategies that elevated business outcomes.
Sharing her excitement on LinkedIn, Annapurna Vishwanathan wrote, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as VP Head of IM & Digital, India and South Asia at Airbus.” Her transition to Airbus marks another milestone in her career, which spans over two decades across prominent organizations such as Coca-Cola, GE, and Atos Origin.

Reflecting on her time at Cummins, Vishwanathan shared on LinkedIN earlier this month: “Last week I concluded an incredible four-year journey as CIO for Cummins India and I find myself reflecting on the immense learning, the experiences, and the relationships that have shaped me into who I am today.”
She highlighted her growth as a leader and the power of purpose-driven teams during her tenure. “Cummins has been more than just a workplace for me – it has nurtured me. In these 4 years, I found my professional voice. More importantly, I started listening to my inner voice. I understood leadership by experiencing what exemplary leadership did for me. I understood the power of purpose and the strength with which teams come together when united by purpose. From driving digital transformations to fostering innovation and collaboration, every challenge and milestone has contributed to my professional and personal growth,” she added.
Before joining Cummins, Vishwanathan held critical roles in technology and digital transformation. As Head of Digital at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd., she spearheaded strategies across manufacturing, logistics, commercial, and sales functions. Her 11.5-year tenure at GE was equally impressive, where she contributed to various technology domains, including product development, ERP, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity, across multiple geographies and industries.
Her accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. In 2021, she was recognized as one of the leading “Women in AI” globally by IBM, a testament to her influence and impact in the field of technology. Beyond her professional achievements, Vishwanathan is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion. She has led numerous women’s networks and is deeply committed to mentoring young and diverse talent across the country.
