ISRO recruitment 2026 has been announced at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), which is conducting walk-in interviews for multiple temporary project-based positions, including Research Scientist, Junior Research Fellow (JRF), and Project Associate. The interviews are scheduled to be held on August 10, 11 and 12, 2026 at NESAC, which is a centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Selected candidates will be appointed on a temporary basis and will receive monthly salary of up to Rs 56,100, along with applicable allowances as per the organization’s rules.
Who Can Apply for ISRO Recruitment 2026?
The recruitment drive is open to candidates with qualifications in disciplines including Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Disaster Management, Geography, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Forestry, Botany, Physics, Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Electronics, Water Resources Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Ecology, and other equivalent subjects, depending on the post applied for. The qualifications required are as follows:
- For Research Scientist positions, candidates must possess a first-class MSc, MTech, ME, or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline along with the required research or work experience specified for the respective post.
- For Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions, applicants must hold a first-class MSc, MTech, BE, or BTech degree, as applicable, along with a valid NET, GATE or equivalent qualification in the relevant field.
- Candidates applying for the Project Associate post must possess a first-class MSc degree in Botany, Forestry, Environmental Science or an equivalent discipline, along with a minimum of one year of experience in plant identification.

The notification states that only candidates who possess the required educational qualifications and experience as on the date of the interview are eligible to participate. Candidates awaiting their final examination results are not eligible to appear for the walk-in interview.
Age Limit for ISRO Recruitment 2026
The maximum age limit is:
- 28 years for Research Scientist (MSc-based) posts.
- 30 years for Research Scientist (MTech-based) posts.
- 28 years for Junior Research Fellow posts.
- 35 years for Project Associate-I posts.
Age relaxation will be applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Ex-servicemen, and Persons with Disabilities as per Government of India norms.
Salary for ISRO Recruitment 2026
Selected candidates will receive the following monthly emoluments:
- Research Scientist: Rs 56,100 per month along with applicable DA, HRA and medical benefits.
- Junior Research Fellow: Rs 37,000 per month along with admissible HRA and medical benefits.
- Project Associate: Rs 31,000 per month along with applicable HRA and medical benefits.
The appointments are purely temporary and will not confer any right to regular employment at NESAC.
Selection Process
Selection will be purely based on performance in the walk-in interview. Candidates are required to carry the prescribed biodata format, original educational and experience certificates, along with one set of self-attested photocopies. Candidates employed in Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings or autonomous bodies must also produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview. The walk-in interviews are tentatively scheduled for August 10, 11 and 12, 2026, at NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya, located approximately 85 km from Guwahati Railway Station and 18 km from Shillong.
