The Limitless Pendant is a coin-sized wearable device that records and summarises audio conversations. It’s marketed as the world’s smallest artificial intelligence (AI) wearable, focusing on maximising convenience and portability. Even as Humane AI’s AI Pin, which claims to replace smartphones, continues to face criticism, a new AI wearable has emerged.
In the era of the AI boom, a slew of entrepreneurs are inventing to provide a viable substitute for smartphones. On 15 April, Colorado-based software development startup Limitless unveiled Limitless Pendant, a broach-like wearable AI gadget. Unlike Ai Pin and Rabbit R1, which help with various daily tasks, Limitless Pendant has a distinct use case.
What is a Limitless Pendant?
Limitless Pendant is a coin-sized wearable gadget that allows you to summarise and take notes on all sounds available via its online app. The gadget has a 100-hour battery life and several microphones to capture high-quality audio even in congested areas—the gadget syncs easily over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
In essence, Limitless is a cross-platform programme that runs on the web, macOS, and Windows, as well as a wearable device. It is driven by everything a user has seen, spoken, or heard. According to the company’s CEO, Dan Siroker, Limitless augments and substitutes human intellect with artificial intelligence to transcend the limits of the brain, particularly memory and attention.
The Pendant is 31.9mm broad and 16mm thin and may be worn as a necklace or fastened to clothes. According to reports, the Pendant’s strength stems from its capacity to seamlessly interact with the user’s digital life, effectively serving as a personalised AI assistant that uses the user’s previous experiences, discussions, and observations to improve attention and productivity. Whether it’s a critical meeting, a casual discussion, or even when working on a project, the Limitless Pendant assists the user with note-taking, action item monitoring, and other administrative responsibilities.
What makes the Limitless Pendant unique?
Equipped with multiple microphones, the Limitless Pendant can record high-quality audio even in crowded environments. The device uses AI algorithms to transcribe the recorded audio and create summaries for later reference. The most intriguing and helpful function is the ability to transcribe and take notes in real-time. When a user has a conversation, the pendant records and transcribes it before summarising it into key points, which are brief notes that may be referred to later. This capability may be helpful, particularly during fast-paced meetings or debates where it is difficult to record every detail.
Recordings are saved on the cloud and accessible through a companion app available on the web, macOS, and Windows.
The Limitless Pendant gadget does more than just transcribe conversations; it may also give personalised meeting preparation, relying on the user’s previous experiences, comments, and contextual information to deliver unique suggestions and insights. This implies that even before entering a meeting, the user may receive a thorough review of pertinent information and reminders about their presenting style and preferences. This ensures the user is fully prepared to participate and make the most of the debate.
Privacy and Security?
Recording conversations might raise privacy concerns, especially in situations where consent from all participants isn’t obtained. It’s crucial to be mindful of local regulations regarding audio recording. Concerns regarding user privacy are understandable, given that the gadget records talk in real time. In addition to efficiency, Limitless Pendant tackles issues about privacy and data security. The business has added a new function called ‘Consent Mode,’ which employs speech recognition to record only the voices of people who have explicitly consented to be recorded. According to the firm, this function is intended to protect users’ privacy while simultaneously increasing confidence and openness in the technology.
Another key innovation is the introduction of the ‘Confidential Cloud’ architecture, which ensures that the user’s data is secure and under their control even when employers and government authorities make demands. According to the business, this distinguishes them from standard cloud-based services, in which consumers frequently sacrifice their personal information for convenience.
Pricing and Availability
The Limitless Pendant has an introductory price of $99 (about Rs 8,280) and is intended to be affordable to a broad spectrum of users. The firm now offers a Limitless Pro membership with extra AI-powered capabilities for $19 monthly (about Rs 1,590) when billed annually. The Pro membership includes several additional capabilities, including creating customised email drafts, assigning work to virtual agents, and accessing the company’s expanding library of third-party apps developed on the Limitless platform. The first manufacturing units of the Limitless Pendant will be sent in August of this year. However, customers may reserve a space by going to the Limitless website.
