Meanwhile, the investigation into the remainder of the dataset, which contains sensitive personal information such as social security numbers, is still ongoing, with its source yet to be determined, added AT&T. The company claims that it has launched a thorough investigation with the aid of both internal resources and external cybersecurity experts. Initial assessments suggest that the dataset in question likely dates back to 2019 or earlier. The impact of the AT&T data breach extends to an estimated 7.6 million current AT&T account holders and a staggering 65.4 million former account holders.
