Wipro has appointed Rajesh Kumar R as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) Designate, as the IT services company prepares for the next phase of its technology transformation. Rajesh joined Wipro in September 2026 and will work closely with the team to ensure a smooth transition. In a statement announcing his appointment, he said he was grateful for the thoughtful handover and had received a warm welcome from the organisation. “In these first few weeks, I have been struck by the depth of talent, the scale of the organization, the openness of the teams and the richness of the culture,” Rajesh said. He added that he looked forward to building on the existing foundation while learning, collaborating and contributing to Wipro’s technology transformation.

Before joining Wipro, Rajesh served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at LTIMindtree from November 2022 to September 2026. He led enterprise-wide technology, digital and AI transformation initiatives, focusing on building a secure, resilient and scalable digital foundation for the organisation. One of his key responsibilities was overseeing the integration of the technology ecosystems of LTI and Mindtree following their legal amalgamation in November 2022. The company brought together enterprise platforms spanning ERP, human resource management, customer relationship management, IT service management, security and collaboration systems within five months, without disrupting business operations.
During his tenure, Rajesh also championed an “AI in Everything, AI for Everyone” strategy to expand AI adoption across the organisation. Rajesh brings a long association with Mindtree, where he held several leadership positions across product engineering, automation, programme management and industry-specific delivery. As Vice President of the Products Engineering Group from August 2020 to November 2022, he led the central team responsible for product and platform engineering, including product development, intellectual property development and patents. Earlier, between April 2018 and July 2020, he served as Vice President for Automation and Vertical Delivery, overseeing global delivery for the retail, consumer packaged goods and manufacturing sectors, alongside the company’s organisation-wide automation function.
He also served as Chief Architect and Head of the Enterprise Architects Group and Technology Innovations at Happiest Minds Technologies from April 2012 to June 2015. His responsibilities included technology consulting, architecture definition, systems engineering, technology governance and engineering initiatives related to intellectual property development. At Sutherland Global Services, Rajesh worked on strategic technology platforms involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, robotic process automation and the Internet of Things.
Earlier in his career, he spent more than 11 years at Mindtree, holding roles including Technical Lead, Architect and Programme Director. During this period, he contributed to the organisation’s growth from around 300 employees in 2001 to more than 10,000 in 2012. Rajesh has also received industry recognition, including the CIO of the Year award from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and has contributed to industry forums focused on enterprise AI and digital transformation.
