Aakashe recently received an opportunity to showcase its product at MPSeDC (Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation) hosted Drone Workshop in December to unveil the state’s Drone Policy. Industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders were present at the workshop to discuss the policy’s key provisions, which aim to foster growth in land records, urban mobility, and disaster management.
Attendees engaged in discussions on how the policy will support innovation, safety standards, and operational advancements in drone technology. The MPSeDC event featured many significant and enlightening discussions. Vipul Bhati, Cofounder, Aakashe as a speaker, presented “Digital Transformation in Drone Survey & Mapping”. He addressed the current challenges in the drone industry and emphasized the vast potential of drone imagery. He began the discussion by addressing various use cases where drone imagery can be used for multiple purposes like:
- Efficient Land Acquisition
- Cost-Effective Analysis
- Enhanced Enforcement
- Smart Urban Planning
- Sustainable Urban Forestry
Challenges and Solutions in Drone Surveying
Bhati highlighted the challenges faced by the drone industry, including:- Lack of technical proficiency
- Security and privacy risks
- Complex data handling
- Limited awareness of policies and applications
Bhati underlined the need for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for drone mapping in India to address these challenges. He also emphasized how Aakashe is revolutionizing drone data, leaving the audience impressed. The platform’s Interactive Map Interface provides seamless visualization and interaction with geospatial data, users can visualize map interfaces for free, simplifying the exploration of geospatial data.
Aakashe’s platform integrates plug-ins such as QGIS and many more, along with APIs for map portals, drone deliveries, and web/mobile applications. That is thoughtfully designed for small, medium, and large enterprises ensuring democratization of drone data.
Vipul Bhati, Co-founder and CBO, Aakashe, said: “The MPSeDC Drone Workshop was a testament to the growing recognition of drones as transformative tools in governance and development. It was inspiring to see policymakers, technologists, and stakeholders come together to shape a progressive drone policy that aligns with India’s aspirations. The discussions and demonstrations showcased the immense potential of drone technology, and we at Aakashe are thrilled to contribute to this ecosystem.”
During the workshop, Vipul Bhati presented compelling statistics that convey the scale and impact of drone surveys in the present scenario. Highlighting the growing adoption of drone technology, he shared that over 200 Govt. tenders have been floated, leading to the mapping of 2.5 lakh sq km of land and the generation of more than 3,000 terabytes of data. Despite 80% of the tenders being executed, 90% of the data remains under-utilized. These insights underscore the immense potential for platforms like Aakashe to bridge this gap by offering instant access to drone imagery offering at an economic cost.
Ankush Sengupta, Co-founder and CEO, Aakashe, added: “The launch of MPSeDC’s Drone Policy is a significant step towards integrating the latest technology into critical infrastructure and urban planning. Such initiatives underscore the importance of collaboration between government bodies and technology providers. Aakashe remains committed to supporting this vision by delivering instant and actionable drone imagery solutions to drive impactful decisions.”
