    The Association for Information Technology (AIT)– Bengaluru, is a thriving forum that represents over 450 member companies engaged in the businesses of IT hardware. Founded in the year 1994,  AIT conducts workshops, seminars, IT trade expositions, promote social and cultural programs for its members apart from liaising with government departments on taxation issues. AIT claims that due to its efforts, a total tax savings to a tune of Rs 100 Crores was enjoyed by the IT dealers of Karnataka.

    Sunil Kukreja, president, AIT recently said: “I am delighted to announce that we have welcomed 35 new members in the past year. A warm and hearty welcome to all our new members. As of today, we proudly have 419 members and continue to grow. I would like to extend my gratitude to our Membership Drive Committee, whose relentless efforts have led to this increase in our membership.

    Who Is Part of AIT Bengaluru?

    The nearly 30 year old association says that it is engaged with over 450 companies that are members for life. The core strength of the association, AIT says, is the fact that members from diverse portfolios are a part of the platform. The nature of the companies associated with the forum are as follows:

    • Distribution and sub-distribution.
    • IT retail.
    • IT system integrators.
    • IT networking and infrastructure providers.
    • Software resellers.

    Executive Members of AIT Bengaluru

    AIT Bengaluru says that the main objective for forming the association in 1996 was to fight Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) and Retail Sales Tax (RST). The main members of the adoption according to the website are:

    • Sunil Kukreja – President.
    • Suresh Kalburgi – Vice president.
    • Keshav S – Secretary.
    • Subrahmanya S Hegde – Joint secretary.
    • Sachidananda K – Tresurer.

    Assistance Offered by AIT Bengaluru

    The community aims to foster bonding and unity among members along with a feeling of belonging to help each other in business as well as other matters. Some of the assistance provided is as follows:

    • To provide a common platform for all companies associated with the IT industry in the state of Karnataka to address issues at the local level.
    • To enable interactions with each other through regular meetings which in turn may help in establishing the ground rules that should lead to a more healthier and productive business environment.
    • To interact with the Government Departments, like commercial taxes, IT, IT/BT, and excise, among others to represent to them for implementing laws and regulations that are favourable to the industry.
    • To disseminate information to the Members regarding Government Policies and Laws and Regulations which affect the Industry.
    • To hold Trade Shows and Exhibitions either in partnership with existing reputed Organizers or by ourselves so that Members can avail considerable cost benefits, which will allow smallest of small Dealers to take part in such Shows.
