    Bharti Airtel Announces Various Measures to Help Victims of Wayanad Landslide

    Telecom major Bharti Airtel has come out in support of those impacted by the Wayanad landslide, and has issued a statement saying they were in solidarity with them. The devastating landslide in Wayanad, triggered by heavy rains, has claimed over 150 lives with several others still feared to be trapped under the debris. Bharti Airtel, to help those stranded in the region, has issued a statement saying: “Airtel stands in solidarity with the people affected by the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala.”

    Relief Measures Announced by Airtel for Wayanad landslide

    The company, calling it a small gesture to support communities in distress, has announced the following measures in the region:

    • Prepaid customers whose validity has expired and are unable to recharge, will be given 1 GB free mobile data per day, unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. This will be valid for for a period of three days. 
    • For postpaid users the bill payment dates will be extended for all postpaid customers by 30 days to ensure customers have uninterrupted access to mobile service. 
    • To support local administration with relief material, Airtel has converted all its 52 retail stores in Kerala into relief collection points where people can drop off relief materials, which will be handed over to the local administration to be sent to the affected communities in Wayanad.

    Bharti Airtel has recently announced that it has around 2.2 million customers who were using its 5G services in the state of Kerala. The company also stated that it had deployed 5G service across all cities and districts in Kerala.
