Global professional services firm Accenture has appointed Vijay Sharma as Senior Managing Director and Global Lead, AI and Data – Industry and Enterprise. In this role, he will lead Accenture’s AI and data strategy across all 13 industries globally, further strengthening the company’s focus on enterprise-wide reinvention through AI.
The appointment comes at a critical juncture as organisations worldwide move rapidly from AI experimentation to large-scale, value-driven adoption. Sharma will be responsible for helping clients unlock end-to-end business value by embedding AI and data into core business processes and industry value chains.
Commenting on his new role, Sharma said, “We have reached a definitive pivot point with AI. It is moving rapidly beyond experimental pilots to become the core of industry DNA. The shift to the AI-native enterprise is no longer a future state; it is a current business imperative. Sharma brings over two decades of experience in AI, data and digital transformation. At Accenture, he has held several global leadership roles, including leading AI and data initiatives for the Resources Industry Group, as well as driving industrial AI and generative AI programmes. Prior to joining Accenture, he held senior leadership positions at IBM, where he served as Vice President for data in Europe, and has also worked with British Gas, Hewlett Packard Enterpriseand Vodafone across strategy, transformation and large-scale programme delivery roles.
Known for his strong focus on driving measurable business outcomes, Sharma specialises in leading large-scale AI- and data-driven transformation programmes that enable organisations to achieve sustainable growth. He is also widely recognised as a thought leader in the data and AI space, having been featured among leading global data visionaries.
