The Tamil version of “The Tech Phoenix: Satyam’s 100 Days Turnaround (Satyam Computersin Marupirappu – 100 Naatkalil Meetedutha Kathai)” by TN Manoharan and V Pattabhi Ram was launched at Tech Mahindra’s Chennai Campus. The event was graced by MM Murugappan, Chairman, Carborundum Universal Limited and Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Former Vice Chancellor, The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University along with other distinguished guests, celebrating the release of this impactful narrative in Tamil.
Authored by TN Manoharan, a member of the RBI’s Standing External Advisory Committee, and V Pattabhi Ram, a chartered accountant and educator, the book delineates one of India’s most remarkable IT success stories, underscoring the transformative power of leadership and resilience in business. Satyam, once the poster boy of the Indian outsourcing industry, had a profound connection with Chennai; therefore the city holds an intrinsic part of its journey. TN Manoharan, who played a pivotal role in the six-member government-nominated board that masterminded the company’s spectacular turnaround, has been a prominent figure in the city for over five decades, earning widespread respect as a distinguished professional.
Expressing his thoughts on the launch, author TN Manoharan, said: “The Tamil edition of ‘The Tech Phoenix: Satyam’s 100 Days Turnaround’ not only brings this incredible story to a wider audience but also emphasises the importance of cultural and linguistic inclusivity in sharing knowledge. Those who were part of Satyam’s extended family and read the English version felt they relived those trying days, while bystanders were eager to learn the inside story of the turnaround. By presenting this narrative in Tamil, we aim to honour the linguistic diversity of India and ensure that the lessons of resilience, ethical leadership, and strategic recovery reach and inspire more people across different regions. The translators and authors have preserved the integrity and pace of the original book, ensuring that the Tamil narrative remains as compelling and authentic as the English version.”
The book details the extraordinary corporate rescue mission that resulted in selecting an investor who injected capital and assumed control of the beleaguered organisation, thereby converting Satyam into a model of successful turnaround. It unlocks deep insights into key corporate lessons such as protecting the interests of stakeholders including employees, investors, and customers, while also depicting how the turnaround restored India’s reputation on the global stage. The Tamil edition of the book is translated by Rani Maindan and Lalitha Parameshwari and is available on Amazon and in all major bookstores. The book is published by Vanathi Pathippakam.
