Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) recently announced that Professor Braj Bhushan has been appointed the deputy director at the institute. He is currently a professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kanpur. “Prof. Braj brings with him an extensive administrative experience as Dean of Administration and Head of the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. Prior to this he has also held several administrative positions at IIT Kanpur as well as other Institutions” said the institute on X.
Braj Bhushan is an accomplished researcher in the fields of Cognitive Neuropsychology, Affective Science, and Trauma Psychology, has garnered global recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field of psychology. His seminal work in Affective Processing, Psychological Assessment, and the Early Detection of Developmental Disorders such as Autism has been widely acclaimed.
Braj Bhushan has been a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur since June 15, 2015, after serving as an Associate Professor from November 29, 2010, to June 14, 2015, and as an Assistant Professor from January 23, 2006, to November 28, 2010. He was a Visiting Professor at Kyushu University, Japan, from August to November 2007.
Prior to his tenure at IIT Kanpur, he was a Senior Lecturer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, from February 24, 2003, to January 22, 2006, and a Lecturer at Vasanta College for Women, Varanasi, from February 9 to March 31, 1996. He also served as a Visiting Psychologist at the Institute for Psychophysical Development, Varanasi, from 1995 to 2002, and conducted fieldwork for the National Task-Force Project of the Indian Council of Medical Research from March 1 to October 31, 1995.
Bhushan’s exceptional achievements have earned him the distinction of being an elected Fellow of both the Association for Psychological Science in Washington, DC, USA, and the British Psychological Society. His groundbreaking research continues to influence and advance psychological science worldwide. He has completed his Masters at Banaras Hindu University, and also has a PhD in neuropsychology from BRAB University.
Apart from appointing a new deputy director, IIT Kanpur also recently named Manindra Agrawal, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering as its new director. Agrawal succeeded Professor S Ganesh to take on his new role.
