    Industry Veteran Rajesh Uppal Named Principal Consultant at Maruti Suzuki India Limited

    Rajesh Uppal, a notable and highly esteemed industry personality who has been associated with Maruti Suzuki India Limited from the last 4 decades has been named Principal consultant at the company. This new update was announced by Uppal on his LinkedIN profile stating: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Principal Consultant at Maruti Suzuki India Limited.”

    Rajesh Uppal has been a key driving force at Maruti Suzuki, serving as a Member of the Executive Board (HR and IT). A technology professional and IT evangelist with a futurist’s perspective, Uppal has championed transformative initiatives spanning IT, logistics, business analytics, digital transformation, HR, learning & development, and CSR.

    His visionary leadership has not only created a robust IT ecosystem at Maruti Suzuki, serving over 400 IT professionals and 350 HR professionals, but also powered the company’s strategic operations and people-oriented goals. Uppal’s contributions extend beyond IT and HR. He spearheads the Maruti Suzuki Training Academy (MSTA), which focuses on developing skilled professionals across the value chain. Additionally, he plays a pivotal role in educational initiatives as a trustee for MSIL-adopted Delhi Public Schools, a board member at institutions like NIT Srinagar, and chairman of the Institute Management Committee for MSIL-adopted Industrial Training Institutes.

    Uppal is widely regarded as a thought leader in the fields of information technology and the auto industry. His ability to anticipate global trends and adapt them to local needs has earned him accolades, including Global CIO, CIO Choice, and Best CIO of the Year awards. Beyond his corporate contributions, he serves as the Co-chairman of the CIO committee of CII, an active member of the SIAM IT Group, and a part of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

    Before joining Maruti Suzuki in 1985, Uppal spent four years at BHEL, where he began his career after earning a BE Hons in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. A frequent speaker at international forums, Uppal’s insights and expertise have made him a revered figure in the industry.
