    Searches for Prayagraj Surge as Maha Kumbh 2025 Nears: Rajesh Magow, MakeMyTrip

    The Maha Kumbh 2025 mela, which begins on 13 January and is being held after 12 years, has caught the attention of the nation. The event is highly revered and is considered extremely auspicious. The Maha Kumbh 2025 Mela is expected to be attended by 400 million devotees, who are expected to take the holy bath or Shahi Snan, where they bathe in the holy waters of the Triveni Sangam on auspicious dates. Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip has stated that the searches for Prayagraj have surged up to 23 times as the occasion comes close.

    “Searches for Prayagraj on MakeMyTrip have surged by an extraordinary 23 times+ year-on-year as devotees from across India plan their journey to Maha Kumbh. Travel demand is particularly high during the event’s opening and closing week. As devotees seek immersive experiences closer to the heart of the Maha Kumbh, tent accommodations have witnessed strong demand. MakeMyTrip’s eight specially curated packages for the Maha Kumbh have also seen positive uptick, with families and groups making up the largest share,” said Magow.

    MakeMyTrip and GoIBIBO are facilitating bookings for the Maha Kumbh Mela in partnership with IRCTC, to ensure a hassle-free experience for pilgrims. Online reservations for accommodations at the Maha Kumbh Gram will be available from January 10 to February 28 via the IRCTC website. The Tent City, designed for the safety and comfort of guests, will feature first aid services and round-the-clock CCTV surveillance.

    Technical Advancements in Maha Kumbh 2025 Mela

    The Maha Kumbh 2025 mela also has a dedicated app called “Mahakumbh Mela 2025 app” which has important locations of ghats, temples, and other major religious sites for the support of tourists and pilgrims. In addition to that, the app also features a Kumbh AI Chatbot to offer devotees a personalised experience. Devotees looking to use the chatbot only need to send a ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp at +91-8887847135 or access it at http://chatbot.kumbh.up.gov.in.

    The Uttar Pradesh government plans to strengthen cybersecurity to safeguard the digital activities of pilgrims during the event. Measures include deploying 56 cybersecurity experts for monitoring, setting up a specialized cyber police station, and installing 40 Variable Messaging Displays (VMDs) throughout the fairgrounds. 360-degree virtual reality stalls will also be installed to offer an immersive experience to devotees. Furthermore, a drone show has also been planned wherein visitors will get to witness a fleet of 2,000 drones narrating the mythological tales of “Prayag Mahatmyam” and “Samudra Manthan.”
