IndiaSkills 2024, India’s biggest skill competition, is currently being conducted at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. The competition is set to witness the participation of over 900 candidates from more than 30 states and Union Territories, and over 400 industry experts across 61 skills. Winners of IndiaSkills 2024, with the help of the best industry trainers, will get an opportunity to get prepared for the WorldSkills Competition scheduled to take place in Lyon, France in September 2024. The WorldSkills Competition will witness participation from 1,500 competitors from over 70 countries.

The competition has been organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and will go on for four days. While 47 skills competitions will be held onsite, 14 will be held offsite in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat keeping in mind the availability of best infrastructure. The students will also participate in 9 exhibition skills such as Drone-Film making, Textile-Weaving, Leather-Shoemaking, and prosthetics-makeup.
How Students Were Selected for IndiaSkills 2024
Approximately 250,000 participants signed up for the contest on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) Portal. Among them, 26,000 were selected after an initial screening process. These figures were then communicated to the respective states to facilitate the organization of competitions at both state and district levels. From this pool, more than 900 students were identified to advance to the next stage of the IndiaSkills National competition. Students engaged in the national-level competition have received training from various educational institutions such as ITIs, NSTIs, Polytechnics, engineering institutes, nursing institutes, and biotechnology institutes.
How Students Will Benefit from for IndiaSkills 2024
This year, participants will have the chance to accrue credits within the National Credit Framework, marking a significant opportunity for their academic progress. The skills showcased in both the WorldSkills and IndiaSkills Competitions are thoughtfully aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), allowing participants to formalize their learning outcomes and pursue prosperous careers in their chosen domains. Additionally, this marks the debut of Qrencia, a competition information system integrated into the IndiaSkills platform.
