OPPO India will launch the Reno 16 Series in India on 2 July, and the company is positioning the smartphone as an AI-powered camera device designed for users who actively create and share content on social media. The new series combines upgraded camera hardware with AI-powered editing features and introduces OPPO Bubble, the company’s first smart camera companion.

The Reno 16 Series features a 50MP 3.5x telephoto portrait camera, support for 4K 60fps HDR video recording across multiple focal lengths, Natural Tone Imaging, and a suite of AI-powered imaging tools integrated with ColorOS. The company has also introduced AI Remix Collage, Pop Cam, Popout 2.0, and Dual-View Video 2.0 to offer users a unified photo and video creation experience. The OPPO Reno 16 Series comes equipped with a 50MP Ultra-Clear Main Camera, a 50MP Ultra-Wide Selfie Camera with a 100-degree field of view, and a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera, supported by a dual flash system for improved low-light photography. The Reno16c features a similar setup with a 50MP Main Camera, 50MP Ultra-Wide Selfie Camera, and an Ultra-Wide Camera.

A key highlight of the Reno 16 Series is the 50MP 3.5x Telephoto Portrait Camera, which offers an 85mm-equivalent focal length designed for portrait photography. According to the company, the camera is intended to deliver natural-looking portraits with improved subject separation while maintaining image detail. It also supports 3.5x optical zoomfor portraits and long-distance photography. The Reno 16 Series introduces Natural Tone Imaging, which focuses on preserving facial details, colour accuracy across different skin tones, and natural lighting conditions. OPPO said the upgraded multi-skin-tone algorithm is designed to maintain individual skin tone characteristics rather than applying a uniform output.
The Reno16 Series supports 4K 60fps HDR video recording across ultra-wide, main, and telephoto cameras. Additional features include 4K Auto Straighten, which helps stabilise handheld footage, and Zoom Free Video, designed to deliver smoother zoom transitions while recording. With social media content creation becoming increasingly common among younger users, OPPO has introduced several AI-powered editing tools on the Reno 16 Series. AI Remix Collage allows users to combine photos, videos, and Live Photos into a single collage directly within the native gallery app. The feature also supports custom text, stickers, and editable layouts without requiring third-party editing applications. Some of the other interesting features are as follows:
- Pop Cam, making its debut on the Reno Series, offers nine camera presets, including Basic, Digicam, Instant Film, Light Leak, Warm, Rich, Fresh, Retro, and Airy.
- Popout 2.0 expands subject recognition beyond people to include pets, landmarks, and everyday objects, while adding new animation effects.
- Dual-View Video 2.0 enables simultaneous recording from both front and rear cameras and allows users to switch focal lengths while recording.
Weighing 27.5g, Bubble magnetically attaches to the Reno 16 Series and features a 1.73-inch AMOLED display that mirrors the rear camera preview, allowing users to frame selfies and group photographs using the primary camera. The accessory also functions as a Bluetooth remote with a range of up to 10 metres for hands-free photography and videography. In addition, users can customise the display with pets, photos, live images, and short videos. OPPO Bubble is powered by a 550mAh battery and carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
With the Reno 16 Series, OPPO is focusing on combining AI-powered imaging, built-in editing tools, and new accessories to simplify photography and content creation. The company says the combination of upgraded camera hardware, AI features, and the OPPO Bubble accessory is aimed at users looking for an integrated content creation experience.
