As the digital landscape continues to evolve, so too do the threats that come with it. This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Sandeep Bhambure, Vice President and Managing Director at Veeam India & SAARC, highlights the growing importance of data resiliency in the fight against rising cyber threats, particularly ransomware.
“In today’s fast-changing cybersecurity landscape, the critical role of data resiliency is more vital than ever. As cyber threats like ransomware continue to grow, it’s essential for businesses to take a proactive stance in making sure their data is not only protected but made resilient. This means going beyond cyber protection to include swift recovery and continuity and to plan for the assumption of a breach,” states Bhanbure. .
According to Bhambure, businesses must adopt a proactive stance: “This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to focus not only on achieving secure cyber resilience, but also take a data resilience approach that includes ransomware mitigation strategies. As businesses have learned, it’s not enough to keep attackers out. True data resilience means that even after a successful attack, businesses still have access to their data whenever and wherever they need it.”
This concept of data resilience is built around the idea that businesses must not only focus on preventing attacks but also be prepared to recover when one occurs. Cyber threats, especially ransomware, can bring operations to a halt, but companies that have a data resilience strategy in place will be better equipped to recover their data and resume normal operations swiftly.
At Veeam, this approach is encapsulated in a zero trust data resilience strategy. Zero trust is a security model that assumes a breach has either already happened or could happen at any time. Bhambure explains, “We support a comprehensive zero trust data resilience strategy that ensures that no matter the disruption, businesses have the resilience to keep on running.”
