WhatsApp is working on a feature that will let users change the default theme on their cellphones to alter the colour of the discussion bubbles within the app. This new customisation option, anticipated to provide a selection of hue presets, was discovered by a feature tracker on a recent iPhone beta version of the app. With more customisation choices, users will be able to customise their messaging experience to suit their preferences and make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Meta’s messaging app has also updated its colour scheme for iOS users, adding a new green accent to other features like buttons and notification counts. This update represents WhatsApp’s ongoing endeavour to improve user experience by adding visually appealing and intuitive features.
WhatsApp’s default chat theme feature
Using the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.11.10.70, distributed to users through Apple’s TestFlight testing programme, feature tracker WABetaInfo discovered a new feature in development: the ability to set the default chat theme. This indicates that while the feature cannot be enabled now, beta testers should be able to test it later.
How to use the default chat theme feature on WhatsApp
A screenshot released by the feature tracker indicates that WhatsApp is developing a new conversation theme selector that will be housed in the settings menu. Five themes are available for users to select blue, grey, red, purple, and the default green theme. The user is also informed in a text excerpt from the stolen image that choosing one of the chaat themes will change the phone’s wallpaper and colour for chats, along with the matching themed WhatsApp doodle backdrop.
In contrast to Instagram, the chat theme you select will only work on that phone. This implies that, compared to Instagram, which lets users have theme discussions individually for each chat, the default chat theme setting will not change the theme in a chat for both users. This new chat theme selector is anticipated to eventually make its way to iOS beta testers before hitting the stable channel. We may expect this function to be added to the Android version of WhatsApp in the future, as most of its capabilities are shared by both the iOS and Android apps.
