Why Are So Many Indians Competing in WorldQuant IQC?

The three-stage, team-based WorldQuant BRAIN International Quant Championship (IQC) for 2024 has attracted many competitors, including 15,322 Indian students out of 37,300 global participants. By creating and backtesting alphas—mathematical models that aim to forecast future price movements of various financial instruments—participants in the IQC can put their quantitative skills to use in the nexus of data science and financial markets.

Stage two qualifying teams comprised 5,645 participants; 2491 Indian students made it to the second round.

Top talent is encouraged by the IQC 2024 competition, which also offers them full-time and internship possibilities and future employment as research consultants. The WorldQuant BRAIN Research Consultant Programme, which provides access to data and tools, a flexible work environment, international learning opportunities, networking opportunities with other quants, competitions and merit-based compensation, and additional career opportunities, may extend an invitation to top performers in the IQC 2024.

Igor Tulchinsky, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of WorldQuant, stated, “We are thrilled to relaunch the annual IQC competition, enabling talented students from across the world to showcase their passion and quantitative skills in a riveting competitive environment.” “We hope this competition will encourage more people to take advantage of the exciting opportunities in the quantitative field.
