At the National Workshop on Powering Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance, he shared how they transformed the UI/UX of the T App Folio based on discussions with the UX 4G team and other members. T App Folio is a mobile app for delivering citizen services in Telangana.

Amit Agarwal, CEO, UIDAI Addresses Gathering

Amit Agarwal, CEO of UIDAI and DG of NIC at MeitY, noted that technology enables the government to create a single platform for all citizens. He emphasized the need for a unified digital experience with one interface and one app to provide all services, making it inclusive, simple, and accessible to everyone. Agarwal highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnership with both public and private platforms, stating that users should get everything in one place instead of having to download multiple apps for different services.

Sharing suggestions on best UI/UX practices, Agarwal stressed the importance of knowing the customer, gathering and studying feedback, and understanding user issues to create better experiences. “There is equal space for collaboration and partnership with public and private platforms. A user must get everything at one place instead of asking them to download multiple apps for a single service,” he added.

    Debjani Ghosh Takes Centre Stage

Addressing the gathering at the National Workshop on Powering Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance, Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM, emphasized that websites and apps today should be seen as bridges connecting citizens and the government. These digital tools play a crucial role in building trust and fostering a more connected society. She stressed the importance of ensuring a seamless user experience not only in urban areas but also in regions with low broadband availability. Inclusion, trust, and effective UI/UX need to become integral parts of this journey.

Appreciating the UX of DigiLocker, Debjani Ghosh noted, “DigiLocker can change the perception of the government among common people. The UX builds the first impression and, in effect, the trust in the government.”

Highlighting the growing importance of UI/UX in India, Ghosh explained that websites are where people form their opinions about the government. “If the interaction is bad, people will think the product must be worse. Ninety percent of people say that a poor website is the reason they don’t trust a business,” she added.
