    MeitY Announces DPDP Innovation Challenge With Prizes Worth Rs 46 Lakh

    The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), under Government of India, in partnership with the National e-Governance Division has announced a challenge on the DPDP Law. Titled “Code for Consent: The DPDP Innovation Challenge”, the competition aims at developing a modular Consent Management System (CMS), which can be integrated seamlessly into existing platforms or applications being used by data fiduciaries. Through the challenge, the Indian Government aims to ensure compliance with the DPDP Act, 2023.

    Who Can Take Part in DPDP Innovation Challenge?

    The official website mentions that entities taking part in the competition will have to address specific technical, functional and operational requirements of the CMS. The challenge is open for the following:

    • Indian origin technology startups registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
    • MSMEs operating in the IT or software domain.
    • Companies registered under the Companies Act, 1956/2013.
    • Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) registered in India.

    Other Important Details of the Challenge

    The participating organisations must have 51% or more Indian ownership by Indian citizens or people of Indian origin domiciled within the country. The team working on the consent management system must be a functional development team with experience in software development, cybersecurity, data governance and compliance. While applying for the competition, all the relevant certificates and documents as per the required eligibility criteria needs to be submitted by the participants.

    In addition to the above, participants must belong from the following service types:

    • BPO (Business Process Outsourcing)
    • IT Consulting
    • IT Management
    • KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing)
    • Others
    • Product Development
    • Project Management
    • Testing
    • Web Development
    • Cyber Security
    • Home Security Solutions
    • Public Citizen Security Solutions

    Those who wish to apply for the challenge are advised to visit the official website, and fill the application form before 27 April 2025. A total prize amount of Rs 46 lakhs has been announced by the Government of India for the winners of the competition.
